The Chilkoot is the perfect combination of intriguing history, stunning scenery and just the right amount of challenge.
The Chilkoot Trail is an adventure that will give you a sense of the challenge, excitement, anticipation, and dangers which faced the Klondike Gold Rushers of 1898. Before it was made legendary the Gold Rush this route through the mountains was a trade route established by Tlingit, Raven Clan.
The Chilkoot Trail now serves as an historic outdoor museum, with the discarded equipment, grave markers, and other reminders of its gold rush past found along the route. Our route takes us along 53 km of terrain with mixed challenges that are moderate to strenuous in nature. Hiking through rainforest, alpine tundra, and boreal forest.
The trail ascends through boulders to the sub alpine at the “Golden Staircase” leading to the historic US/Canadian boarder control. Along the way you will be rewarded with views of snowcapped mountains, hanging glaciers, turquoise lakes, and cascading rivers contribute to the magnificence of the rugged, scenic area that follows the Chilkoot Trail. Our travel back in time begins and finishes with a train ride aboard the White Pass & Yukon Railroad.
